NASSP’s Women in School Leadership Network recently wrapped up its inaugural year. Each month, a core group of about 20 women leaders from around the country connected online to discuss our unique experiences while navigating what has historically been a male-dominated role.
As the network’s co-facilitators, we take pride in providing a safe space for a guest speaker to share her leadership journey and open the door for questions, advice, and lots of inspiration. Some of the hot topics we have discussed include work-life balance and navigating bias and stereotypes. Just as important, we have established a national support system for women leaders to share, laugh, and learn.
One highlight from the past year was hosting Kendra Washington-Bass and Kelly Peaks Horner, co-authors of Unwrapped: The Pursuit of Justice for Women Educators, to discuss women supporting women as “co-conspirators.” Another amazing moment was gathering in person (and often hugging each other) when our network members attended NASSP’s Ignite conference in Denver, CO, this past summer. We cannot wait to reunite with everyone this July in Nashville at UNITED: The National Conference on School Leadership!
This year our network looks forward to growing and evolving to continue meeting the needs of our membership. To that end, we are thrilled to announce the addition of a third network facilitator, Atoi Sinclair. As assistant principal of Milwaukee Lutheran High School in Milwaukee, WI, Atoi is a dedicated educator, a girls’ basketball coach, and marathoner when not in school.
We invite you to join us the first Thursday of every month on Zoom at 7:00 p.m. ET. Come as you are and attend when you can.
