A year ago, I decided to apply for the NJHS Outstanding Achievement Award because I have always strived to excel in all areas of my life, including academics, leadership, and service. When I learned about the opportunity to be recognized for my hard work and dedication, I knew I wanted to take advantage of it. My NJHS adviser said I would be a great candidate and encouraged me to apply. Having my efforts recognized and appreciated inspired me to push myself further and reach higher levels of success in my academics and athletics. Through NJHS, I was able to influence my peers into becoming more involved in the Honor Society’s five pillars: scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship.

One of the most valuable aspects of being a part of this Honor Society is the sense of community and camaraderie that comes with it. Receiving the award was not only a recognition of my individual efforts and accomplishments but also a reflection of the support and encouragement I’ve received from my teachers, advisers, family, and peers. Truly, I wouldn’t be in the position I am in today without them.

My teachers reminded me to always be open to new opportunities, making my learning experiences the best moments of my life. My NJHS adviser played a crucial role in providing me with guidance, continuing to help me push myself further and strive for excellence in everything I do. The support of my family has taught me to be determined and focused in achieving my goals and to see the value of responsibility and commitment. The encouragement from my peers inspired me to be in the position I am in today because they have given me the confidence needed to be a dedicated student who respects the principles of leadership.

Being a member of NJHS not only helped me to excel academically and develop leadership skills, but it also taught me the importance of supporting and guiding others in their own pursuits. I am proud to have been a member of NJHS and grateful for the incredible support system it provided me.

Receiving this award allowed me to realize all the wonderful accomplishments I made throughout the years, from my academics to my sport, horseback riding. The five pillars of NJHS have been the foundation for how I carry myself in the world, allowing me to be the leader I am today.

I encourage you to apply for this award and reflect on how the five pillars have helped you achieve. Through the importance of scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship, NJHS influenced my character and sense of self throughout middle school and even now high school. Words cannot express how thankful I am for the support I received throughout this journey. From one proud, dedicated student to another, I encourage you to apply for the OAA today.
