Description
During the ongoing pandemic, Downingtown Middle School (DMS) knew they had to find a way to help students connect outside of normal school hours. So DMS began running “virtual” clubs that took place after hours during the school week between 4:00–8:00 p.m. in an effort to keep students engaged, develop social connections, and protect their overall well-being. As always, the amazing teachers developed awesome and engaging ideas, including Anime Club, Roblox Club, Allies Club, Karaoke Club, and the tremendously popular “Friday Night Dinner Club.” The club advisor and the students would choose a recipe early in the week, gather ingredients and materials, and meet on Friday evenings to cook the meal “virtually” together on Zoom. Word spread quickly as students, their families, teachers, and community members clamored to be a part of this juggernaut. Join Dr. Indeglio as he takes you on a tour to showcase this middle level school’s “Virtual Clubs.”
