Honoring the Best in Technology Leadership

NASSP has named three outstanding, tech-leading principals as the 2016 NASSP Digital Principals: Bobby Dodd, of Gahanna Lincoln High School in Gahanna, OH; Glenn Robbins of Northfield Community Middle School in Northfield, NJ; and Winston Sakurai of Hanalani Upper School in Mililani, HI. NASSP created the Digital Principal Award program in 2012 to recognize principals who have successfully leveraged digital media to advance student learning, teacher professional development, and their own leadership development. The 2016 winners will present the Technology Viewpoint session at the Ignite ’16 conference, where they will also formally receive their award.

Congressional Resolution Commemorates NASSP’s 100th Anniversary

After 2015 NASSP National Principal of the Year Jayne Ellspermann met with Representative Frederica Wilson (D-FL) during the NASSP Board Hill Day visit in November, Rep. Wilson—who served as an educator, school board member, assistant principal, and principal prior to joining Congress—agreed to introduce a resolution (H. Res. 570) commemorating NASSP’s 100-year anniversary.

Officially introduced on December 17, the resolution commemorates NASSP’s work over the past 100 years. It also acknowledges NASSP’s commitment to supporting middle level and high school principals, assistant principals, and school leaders across the United States and around the world by promoting high professional standards, focusing attention on school leaders’ challenges, providing a national voice for school leaders, building confidence in public education, and strengthening the role of the principal as an instructional leader for the next 100 years and beyond.
